Bowling Green, Kentucky – The Western Kentucky University (WKU) Women’s Golf team has achieved a milestone by securing a spot in the NCAA Regional tournament for the first time in the program’s history. This landmark achievement comes after the team captured the Conference USA title on April 16, 2025.

The NCAA Regional tournament is set to take place in Lexington, Kentucky, from May 5 to May 7, 2025. WKU has been seeded as the No. 10 team in the regional tournament, where they will compete against a total of 12 teams, including top-seeded Florida State. Competing just 150 miles away from its home in Bowling Green provides the Lady Toppers a notable home-field advantage.

Junior Sydney Hackett, who notably won the Conference USA individual championship, has declared the team’s ambition of winning championship rings serves as motivation for this upcoming challenge. The Lady Toppers aim to place in the top five at the regionals, a feat that would qualify them for the national championship finals scheduled for May 16-21, 2025, in Carlsbad, California.

The WKU women’s golf team boasts a mix of experience as they approach this significant tournament. Senior golfer Catie Craig previously competed individually at regionals last season, granting her valuable insights that the team can leverage during their upcoming matches. Craig expressed that having her teammates with her during this tournament experience provides an essential layer of support.

This historic berth in the NCAA Regional marks a significant advancement for WKU Women’s Golf, showcasing the growth and potential of the program. The team’s recent success in the Conference USA Championship underscores their ability to perform under pressure and produce results against formidable competitors.

This achievement not only shines a spotlight on the talented athletes within the program but also represents a growing trend of success in WKU athletics overall. The dedication, teamwork, and resilience displayed by the Lady Toppers reflect the commitment to excellence for which WKU is known.

As preparation for the regional tournament ramps up, WKU Women’s Golf emphasizes a collective goal centered around team success, confidence, and a shared vision of creating a lasting legacy in their sport. The Lady Toppers are poised to make a mark in Louisville as they approach their first NCAA tournament appearance, prepared to rise to the occasion and potentially secure a place in the national championship.

With the excitement building, WKU’s athletes and their supporters remain optimistic about the potential outcomes. This inaugural NCAA Regional appearance is a culmination of hard work and determination, promising to be a memorable chapter in WKU Women’s Golf history.
